CARL TREMARCO was today being linked with a move to Chester City.

The Liverpool-born defender is out of contract at Wrexham and has attracted the interest of Blues' boss Simon Davies.

City are keen to strengthen their squad after a disappointing run of results towards the end of their campaign, and Tremarco is keen to remain a Football League player.

With Davies is expected to release experienced defenders Paul Butler and Tony Dinning after they were both frozen out of the squad for the last month of the season, and centre back Paul Linwood out of contract, the Blues boss is now keen to organise his back line.

Tremarco started his career at Tranmere Rovers in December 2003 and signed a full professional contract. He joined Wrexham this January for an undisclosed fee.

Chester were also being linked today with Bangor City striker Ashley Stott.

Meanwhile, Kevin Sandwith is hoping he has done enough to earn a new contract.

The City midfielder, who played a number of matches under Simon Davies, is now out of contract, said: "I enjoyed my central midfield role, it was nice to get a run in the team."

Sandwith is one of several Chester players out of contract and scheduled for talks with Davies at the Deva Stadium tomorrow.

Other out of contract City players scheduled to have talks with Davies include Phil Palethorpe, Simon Marples, Dean Bennett, Sean Hessey, Tony Grant and Simon Yeo.
