A NEW housing development in Chirk has been put on hold after councillors decided to see for themselves concerns regarding its impact on a nearby property.
Montec Homes want to build 12 houses and a block of six apartments on land at the former Plas y Waun Inn on Chapel Road, and the plans were recommended for approval by Wrexham's chief planning officer Lawrence Isted.

However, after concerns about the development's proximity to a 300-year-old property were raised by Chirk county councillor Ian Roberts, elected representatives have now decided to pay a visit to the site before coming to a final decision.

Chirk Town Council had raised concerns about the location of the development on Chapel Road, which is also home to Chirk Infant School.

The councillors' site visit will take place at an unspecified future date.
